About SalaryTrack

SalaryTrack is a free salary research tool that provides accurate, government-sourced wage data for hundreds of occupations across the United States.

Our Data Source

All national salary data on SalaryTrack comes directly from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) program — the most comprehensive salary database in the United States. The OEWS survey covers approximately 830 occupations across more than 600 metropolitan and nonmetropolitan areas.

The BLS collects this data through a semi-annual survey of approximately 200,000 non-farm business establishments. This is public domain government data, freely available to all Americans. Our current data reflects the May 2025 OEWS release.

Important Data Disclaimer

National salary figures on SalaryTrack are sourced directly and verified against official BLS OEWS data. However, some metropolitan area figures are estimated based on regional BLS wage differentials where exact metro-level data for a specific occupation is not available in our current dataset. These estimates are calculated using verified BLS regional wage multipliers and are clearly approximate.

For the most precise local wage data for a specific occupation and metro area, we recommend consulting the BLS OEWS metropolitan area data directly.

Why We Built This

Salary data should be free and accessible. Too many salary sites hide data behind paywalls, use self-reported surveys that can be skewed, or mix outdated data with current figures. SalaryTrack exists to give everyone access to the same official government data that HR professionals and economists use — for free, with no account required.
